Disobedience By Design by Regina Kammer @Kammerotica #RLFblog #historicalromanceToday’s featured book is Disobedience By Design by Regina Kammer.

In 1860, the railways of Victorian England transport American stevedore Joseph Phillips to the lush countryside of Lincolnshire…and into the arms of Lady Sophia Harwell. But Sophia is betrothed to a violent villain who wants only two things: her virginity and her dowry. Can Joseph save his beloved without scandalizing upper-class British society?

    The Lady…

Lady Sophia Harwell has just been presented to Society—and its eligible bachelors—and is quite unimpressed. Her parents are encouraging the suit of the Duke of Royston, a man older than her father! Yet free-spirited Sophia is smitten with Joseph, her brother’s handsome American business partner, a man who introduces her to sensual delights beyond the bounds of propriety and the dictates of her social standing.

    …And The Laborer

Joseph Phillips is out of his depth amongst the British aristocracy trying to secure investors for his American railroad enterprise. To make matters worse, he can’t keep his hands off his business partner’s sister. Sophia is far out of his league and expected to marry a duke. But when the duke reveals his villainy, Joseph decides some risks are worth taking, and, to protect Sophia, he embarks upon a partnership of an entirely unexpected nature.

    The Harwell Heirs

Victorian aristocracy has very strict rules concerning marital connections and familial obligations. But the Harwell heirs—Helena, Sophia, and Arthur—discover love doesn’t always follow the rules. Scandalous affairs force these scions of society to choose between duty and desire, deference and destiny.

Journey to Honor (Knights of Honor #4) by Alexa Aston @AlexaAston #RLFblog #medievalromanceWelcome Alexa Aston, author of Journey to Honor (Knights of Honor Book 4), a new medieval historical romance.

Why did you write this book?

I wrote Journey to Honor as a continuation of my Knights of Honor series. I had told the love story of Elysande Le Cler in Code of Honor, the previous book. Now Elysande’s sister, Avelyn Le Cler, gets to find her own HEA with dashing knight Sir Kenric Fairfax.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I adore romance but I’m also addicted to thrillers!

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I think we’d all like to be Miss Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. I know I would!

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m hard at work on Heart of Honor, Book 5 in my Knights of Honor series. Books 5-10 will feature the six children of Geoffrey and Merryn de Montfort, my couple from Book 1’s Word of Honor.

Heart of Honor will focus on the oldest de Montfort child, Alys, who is a healer just like her mother.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Heart of Honor will be released on October 25. In 2018, Books 6-9 (Ancel, Edward, Hal, and Nan) will appear. The series will close out in early 2019 with the final book (Jessimond).

Please tell us about your latest book.

    Genre: Medieval historical romance

When twin boys are born, a servant with a grudge switches their birth order…

1366 A.D. – Kenric Fairfax is raised as the second son of the Earl of Shadowfaire. The day of his Knighting Ceremony, a tragedy takes place—and Kenric flees the north of England, putting his past behind him as he swears he will never marry. He becomes a trusted knight in service to Lord Michael Devereux, who asks Kenric to lead an escort party from London in order to bring his wife’s sister home to Sandbourne.

Avelyn Le Cler has spent a year as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Philippa and finds the treachery at the royal court not to her liking. She looks forward to a summer visit with her sister Elysande, who will soon give birth to her first child. While journeying from London, Avelyn discovers a secret about Sir Kenric Fairfax that could change his life—if he believes her.

But Avelyn is plagued with doubts since she has no proof to present Kenric. As the couple falls in love, Avelyn knows she must reveal to Kenric the truth she has learned about his birth—even if it costs her everything.

Join Kenric and Avelyn as the truth rips them apart—but their enduring love brings them together again.

Is It True: The Du Lac Chronicles by Mary Anne Yarde @maryanneyarde #RLFblog #Historical

Is It True: The Du Lac Chronicles by Mary Anne Yarde @maryanneyarde #RLFblog #HistoricalPlay Is It True with today’s guest Mary Anne Yarde, author of The Du Lac Chronicles, a Historical Romance. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

First, tell us about your book.

“It is dangerous to become attached to a du Lac. He will break your heart, and you will not recover.” So prophesies a wizened healer to Annis, daughter of King Cerdic of Wessex. If there is truth in the old crone’s words, they come far too late for Annis, who defies father, king, and country to save the man she loves.

Alden du Lac, once king of Cerniw, has nothing. Betrayed by Cerdic, Alden’s kingdom lies in rubble, his fort razed to the ground and his brother Merton missing, presumably dead. He has only one possession left worth saving: his heart. And to the horror of his few remaining allies, he gives that to the daughter of his enemy. They see Annis, at best, as a bargaining chip to avoid war with her powerful father. At worst, they see a Saxon witch with her claws in a broken, wounded king.

Alden has one hope: When you war with one du Lac, you war with them all. His brother Budic, King of Brittany, could offer the deposed young king sanctuary—but whether he will offer the same courtesy to Annis is far less certain.

Why did you write this book?

Amorous Redemption came about because of the stories I was told of my great grandmother’s family and the station, Inkerman Downs Station, they took ownership of upon migrating to Australia. There was some real controversy about her marriage and this was my take on that.

Faye’s passion driven, mystery filled books are set in small townships of North Queensland, Australia during the late 1800’s. Each of her novels brings something symbolically Australian to her readers, from Aboriginal herbal remedies, to certain gemstones naturally only found in this part of the world.

Each of her books tells of a passionate connection between the hero and heroine, surrounded and threatened by deceit, scandal, theft and sometimes even murder. These romances swerve from the traditional romances as Faye aims to give her readers so much more intrigue, whilst also revealing the hidden histories of rural townships of North Queensland. Faye finds her inspiration from the histories of not only the township she grew up in, but the many surrounding it. She also bases most of her characters on people she has met in her life.

Faye was able to live her own passion driven romance, marrying the love of her life after a whirlwind romance in 2013. Together they are raising their nine children in a remote country town in northern Queensland, Australia.

Meg Henshawe has been a lot of things in her life, and few of them good. As proprietress of The Rose and Crown in Restoration Southwark, she has squandered her life catering to the comfort of workmen and thieves. Famous for her beauty as much as her reputation for rage, Meg has been coveted, abused, and discarded more than once. She is resigned to fighting alone until a passing boxer offers a helping hand.

Jake Cohen needs a job. When an injury forces him out of the ring for good, all he’s left with is a pair of smashed hands and a bad leg. Keeping the peace at The Rose is easy, especially with a boss as beautiful—and wickedly funny—as Meg Henshawe. In her way, she’s as much of an outcast as Jake, and she offers him three things he thought he’d never see again: a home, family, and love.

After Meg’s estranged cousin turns up and seizes the inn, Meg and Jake must work together to protect their jobs and keep The Rose running. The future is uncertain at best, and their pasts won’t stay buried. Faced with one setback after another, they must decide if what they have is worth the fight to keep it.
